What Winter products Avis has to offer

Snow Tyres

Due to snowy conditions in many countries winter tyres are necessary to drive and are compulsory by law during a specific time of the year. For selected countries, winter tyres are fitted free of charge, other countries may charge a fee.

Ski Racks

Whether you’re a black run expert or more of a nursery slope skier, you’ll need a ski rack. Ski racks are available for hire at selected Avis branches. They can be reserved with your hire car via the website, and the option to book will only be available for participating branches.

Please be aware that prices vary between countries and the specific quote for hire can be viewed during your booking process.

Snow chains are not compulsory during winter seasons but are available to rent at certain branches. They can be reserved with your hire car via the website, and the option to book will only be available for participating branches.

Winter Products terms by country

Austria
Winter tyres are compulsory and fitted between 1 November - 15 April and a fee will apply. Snow Chains and ski racks are available on request at selected Avis branches.

Canada
Winter tyres and snow chains are not available. Avis vehicles are equipped with all weather tyres. Ski/Snowboard racks are available at selected Avis branches.

Bulgaria
Snow chains and ski/snowboard racks are available on request at selected Avis branches.

Estonia
Winter tyres are compulsory between 15 November - 15 March and are fitted free of charge. Ski/Snowboard racks are available at selected Avis branches.

France
Snow chains and ski/snowboard racks are available on request at selected Avis branches.

Italy
Snow chains and ski/snowboard racks are available on request at selected Avis branches.

Norway
Winter tyres are compulsory between 1 November - 15 March and are fitted free of charge. Snow chains and ski racks are available on request at selected Avis branches.

Romania
Winter tyres are compulsory between 15 November – 31 March and a fee will apply. Snow chains are available on request at selected Avis branches.

Slovakia
Winter tyres are compulsory and fitted between 15 November - 31 March and a fee will apply. Snow chains are available on request at selected Avis branches.

Slovenia
Winter tyres are compulsory and fitted between 15 November - 15 March and a fee will apply. Snow chains and ski racks are available on request at selected Avis branches.

Switzerland
Ski racks are available on request at selected Avis branches.

USA
Winter tyres and snow chains are not available. Avis vehicles are equipped with all weather tyres. Ski/snowboard racks are available on request at selected Avis branches.
