The safety and peace of mind of our customers are a top priority for Avis. In light of the safety concerns being raised about Toyota vehicles, we are taking the precaution of removing approximately 500 vehicles from our fleet in the corporately-owned markets of the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, the Czech Republic, and Portugal effective Friday, February 5, 2010 .
We also want to reassure our customers that as Toyota vehicles represent only a small percentage of our overall fleet, we expect to be able to fulfill all projected customer demand and customers can make reservations with complete confidence for any rental occasion.
