About the authors
Marketing Communications Manager
I started at Avis in June 2007 and to say the time has gone quickly is an understatement. Our business is very fast moving with changes on a daily basis from new fleet, locations through to new products in to the market.
I have spent my whole career in the travel industry in a number of different companies including my last role at United Airlines.
I hope to be able to help customers on the blog with questions about Avis and to bring some of my previous travel experience and passion.
Outside of Avis I love travelling, exploring new places and visiting old favourites including Barcelona and Chicago.
Lucy Wilkinson
Brand and Advertising Manager
Having worked in the travel marketing sector for the past few years, I joined Avis in early 2010 and, as you can see from the photo, I’m proud to be an Avis girl! I think the blog is a great conduit for having conversations directly with our customers; it’s so useful to be able to get feedback so we can continuously try to improve our service.
When I’m not blogging I’m usually out and about enjoying London life… or relaxing in the beautiful countryside of Lincolnshire on my Dad’s farm.
What car would you be and why?!
I’d be a Porsche 928 – excitable, thirsty and expensive to maintain!

Barry Nicoll
Online Marketing Performance Manager
I joined Avis back in 2006 as International Marketing Executive, I’ve since taken on a few different roles before settling into my current position. My development within Avis has given me the opportunity to gain a good insight into how Avis works which I hope to use to answer any queries that come my way through the blog.
Outside of work, I have 3 boys that keep me busy with most of my spare time spent cheering them on at football practice, swimming lessons and generally being a chauffeur between various parties and events! Aside from that I have a passion for cars (both exotic and more affordable!) which has seen me become the ‘go to’ guy when someone needs an opinion/information on a new car we have coming onto fleet!!
What car would you be and why?!
I’d be a Vauxhall Zafira VXR – family focused, but enough grunt under the bonnet to get work done quickly and effectively!!
Sabrina Head
Marketing Executive
As a recent Graduate of the University of Hull, I have only ever worked in car rental. I began working with the Avis UK Marketing team in May 2011 and have quickly learnt how fast pace the car rental world can be!
This blog is a great way for customers to not only find out up to date news on what Avis has to offer but to have any queries or suggestions addressed. We do take your feedback very seriously and have recently extended our Select Series Fleet to London City Airport due to blog feedback. I work closely with the customer service and reservations teams to answer any concerns or questions customers may have.
Outside Avis I enjoy catching up with friends, reading a good book and going for runs.
What car would you be and why?!
I’d be a VW Golf – sensible and practical the majority of the time but definitely has its fun moments!!
Rodger Van Zyl
Web Content Executive
My first introduction to the travel industry was with Avis some 5 years ago and during this time I’ve enjoyed working in a number of different departments, giving me a broad knowledge of how car hire industry works.
I’m a keen believer that the Blog is great place to have an open discussion on the ‘How, What’s and Why’s’ of Avis and the car hire industry and look forward to answering your questions and sharing some interesting reading material.
When I’m not in the office, I like to spend my time outdoors, enjoying my favourite pass time of off road cycling and camping.
What car would you be and why?!
It goes without saying, if I was a car I would be a Land Rover Discovery.
