We booked through RCI so had no choice as to which car hire commpany we used. We were given a quotation which was far exceeded when we arrived in Cyprus. The excess on the car was deemed to be 1200 Euros so we chose to pay the waiver in addition to the collision-damage waiver. We were not told in advance of the obligatory extra insurance charge because I am 74. Nor were we told that there was a fuel charge of 47 euros. Fair enough , we have to pay for fuel but the Nissan Note only holds 46 litres. Petrol in Cyprus was a little over 80 euro cents per litre and even the higher grade was only 84.5 eurocents per litre. Therefore by having to return a full tank we were over-charged by at least £10 sterling going on the higher-cost fuel, even more on the basic unleaded which is what was in the car.
