I am excited to announce the launch of the Avis Eco Collection, our new low emissions car group. If you choose to rent a car from the Avis Eco collection you can drive away in a brand new, stylish and fuel efficient VW Golf 1.6 TDI 90ps. The cars combined MPG is 62.8 and its CO2 emissions are sub 120, at 118g/km. Currently these cars are available at 21 Avis locations across the UK.
Also to celebrate the launch of the new Avis Eco collection, we will offset the carbon offset all of the Eco collection rentals that have pick-ups in December 2009 and January 2010.
We would love to hear what you think about this new car group and it would be great to get feedback if you have rented one of our Avis Eco cars.

I think this is a great addition to the fleet and probably overdue as a couple of the other major car hire companies have been doing this for a while now (without mentioning names of course…).
So what other cars can we expect to see in the “collection” and when?
Got my first rental of the Eco Golf booked so will report back…

Very disappointed with the service after having a breakdown with our hire car. Will not be using this company in the future.

Rented a car with my boyfriend over Christmasto travel home and absolutely loved it! So nice to be able to travel in style and comfort (avoiding the cold trains) and still have a guilt free eco-conscience!
Please add more cars to the collection soon with even lower emissions!

Is this the BlueMotion Golf or the standard 1.6TDI?
I’m long term renting from you while the company I work for sorts out it’s company car policy, so I’m trying to find out all the info on the car before it’s due to be delivered on Friday. Is it the ’1.6TDI S’ – if so how does this compare to the Ford Focus Zetec 1.6 TDCI I’ve had for the past few months on power, emissions and general speed, as the ‘Golf S’ models seem to be lower spec and horsepower – or have you added any options on them to make them more pleasant?

Hi Adam,
Yes you are correct the model in the Avis ECO range is the Golf 1.6 TDI ‘S’ 90PS.
We do have a few vehicles on fleet with similar levels of emissions, however customers are only able to book and guarantee specific fuel type and emissions when opting for Avis ECO at present.
If you have any other questions please let me know.

Hi Robert,
Sorry for the delayed response.
We are unable to confirm specific models at this time, but we have and still are looking at ways in which we can improve our fleet and in particular the level of choice that customers have by working closely with manufacturers using the latest fuel technologies.
We would love to know if you have driven any of the new technology cars and what you thought about them.

Hi,
I will be renting from your Heathrow Branch soon, and I am thinking of renting the VW Golf Blue Motion. I was wondering however that if this car is not available for some reason what will it be substituted for?
Thanks for your help

Hello James,
Our Eco range of vehicles used to solely consist of the VW Golf Blue Motion, but due to popular demand we’ve increased the size of our Eco fleet.
We now include a eco versions of the VW Golf with Co2 emissions less that 120.
To answer your question you will still get an Eco VW Golf if the Golf Blue Motion is not available.
