Would be great if you could see all bookings made on Avis Preferred account not just the ones made from the app.

Can we have this app released on the iTunes US store as well? it’s only available on the UK store
September 1st, 2010 at 8:01 am
The application works quickly and could be really good. Unfortunately, on my device all place names and car descriptions are in German. I can find no reason why this would be, either in the app settings or my profile. Please have a look at fixing this given it could be a really good app.

@Neil
Please check
-> Settings
-> General
-> International
-> Language = Englisch
and Region Format = United Kingdom.
These settings are responsible for the correct translation in the App.
cheers
Andreas

Hi lunardream,
Unfortunately each country develops its own apps and we are unable to offer the UK one on the US app store. However I’ve checked with my colleagues in the US and they have a great Avis App which you can download for free in the USA.
Here’s the link https://www.avis.com/car-rental/content/display.ac?contentId=avis-iphone-app-US_en-015260&ICID=HP_spot3I_T_iphone_166
hope this helps
thanks

Not really any use if it doesn’t contain the Preferred bookings details made on line rather than through the app.
Take a look at the BA app, where they issue bar code tickets etc so you can “check in” without having to go to the desk. That would be a great productivity improvement for you and the customer. You send the notification of the bay number the car is in, we just go straight to it and your security guy on the exit scans the barcode for confirmation.

Hi Steve,
Thank you for your comments regarding future technology improvements. This is definitely something we will consider for any future developments we pursue.
We’re always looking at reducing the time our customers spend at Avis car hire branches. Currently we run a service called “3 Minute Promise” this is where we promise to get you your keys within 3 minutes. If we take longer than 3 minutes we’ll give you a £20 John Lewis voucher.
Our 3 minute promise combines technology as well as a great service, provided by the Avis rental agents. If you would like to find out more please go to http://www.avis.co.uk/ProductsServices/Additional-Services/3-Minute-Promise .
If you have any other suggestions or questions please feel free to let me know.
Rodger.

I live in Ireland but often book rentals in the UK on business trips. Could you submit the app to the Irish app store as I can’t access it at present?

Made a booking using the iphone app – very simple. Unfortunately, now I want to amend the booking, I cannot do this. Also, I cannot see the booking when I use Avis Internet site.
Can you tie the two booking methods together?

Hello Andy,
Thank you for your comments on the iPhone application.
As you are aware our iPhone application does not share booking information with the website online accounts. We understand that this function would be a benefit our customers, so it is something we’ll keep in mind for future developments.
However, you are able to modify your booking on our website or iPhone app.
Every booking made on the iPhone is saved in the “Bookings” section which can be found in the bottom navigation menu. There you can retrieve your booking and modify it at any time, or you can go to “View, modify or cancel a booking” which can de found on the booking panel of the website.
Regards
Rodger

Two issues
1. Android has been out for ages, been out selling iPhone for a while and Hertz have an android app but you don’t. Get a move on.
2. When submitting this form on android it barfed and said I didn’t have javascript or cookies enabled. First of all I do and secondly on a simple form submit I shouldn’t need either (and you need to deal with the no-javascript option for disability access). Please sort it.
(using a PC to submit this because of problem 2)

Hi Craig,
Thanks for your comment and please accept my apologies for the late reply to your blog post.
I’m happy to announce that we are in the process of building an Avis Android application and should be available for you to download in the near future.
When the application is available to download we will announce it on our blog. So keep an eye out for announcements on all our mobile releases!
With regards to your second point, I too am an Android user and I do not have any problems submitting comments via the our blog. I’m more than happy to take a further look into this for you.
Please send your mobile spec to comments@avis.co.uk and I will investigate this issue for you.
