When offered it i declined as i saw no need to add €15 to the cost of my hire (over a week) so that i would not have to slow down for a few toll booths. What is not explained is that you will face serious problems if you use the toll road into Porto without this device. It was introduced in the 90s… There were some major roads with no toll charge (they are called IP) but last year the charges were implemented and they are all electronic.
It does make life a lot easier – it did for me on a major road trip last year…
