Start by exploring the old city, “Römerberg”, featuring 15th and 16th century buildings that were preserved or rebuilt after World War II. The gothic Frankfurt Cathedral is located in this neighbourhood and was where emperors of the Holy Roman Empire were crowned for over 200 years.
The more modern area of Hauptwache is home to the city’s main shopping district and public squares.
