Games of Thrones fans flock to King's Landing after "The Bells"

It may have been left in ashes after an episode which saw the crushing of one queen and the madness of the other, but all is not lost for the scorned King’s Landing. Leading car rental provider, Avis UK, has revealed that searches for Dubrovnik, Croatia – the real-life location of King’s Landing - have increased by 124%* since the penultimate episode of Game of Thrones aired.
The dramatic episode included sweeping views of the stunning landscape in and around the city. King’s Landing has been set in the Croatian city since the critically-acclaimed series began, and with terracotta rooftops, a spectacular coastline and the ancient city wall overlooking the Adriatic Sea - also known as ‘Blackwater Bay’ – the setting is now instantly recognisable to fans. With the series ending next week, it seems viewers are keener than ever to visit the city which fell to the fire of Drogon.
Nina Bell, Managing Director, UK & Scandinavia, Avis Budget Group said of the findings:
“Whether it be fans of the show paying homage to King’s Landing or those who simply want to enjoy the beautiful scenery and Croatian culture on a road trip adventure - we expect the interest in this location, and others featured on Game of Thrones, to continue to grow even with the series coming to a close.”
