Built between 1573 and 1577, it’s an imposing building. Inside you’ll discover treasures such as Caravaggio’s famous painting: The Beheading of Saint John The Baptist. If you’re into the arts, take in a show at the 18th-century Manoel Theatre, which hosts performances by Malta’s National Theatre and National Orchestra. Other city attractions include the National Museum of Archaeology, City Gate and Freedom Square.

Once used as the film set for the 1980’s film Popeye, starring Robin Williams, it’s been transformed into one of the island’s top theme parks. A variety of fun attractions await, including boat rides, water trampolines and a Popeye Comic Museum.
