• Follow the path straight up to the car returns and collection area.

• Come out of arrivals and turn left. Walk past Costa coffee and WHSmith and the Avis desk will be on your left.
• You will collect your rental at the desk and then be directed to the Avis car area to collect your vehicle.

Birmingham International Airport is located east of Birmingham City centre. It’s in the heart of England and the UK's motorway network.  Approximately 9 million passengers pass through this airport every year, which makes it the 5th biggest airport in the United Kingdom.

Birmingham Airport was opened in 1939 under the name of Elmdon Airport. The RAF took over the airport during World War II and used it as a flying school. When the war was over the airport was used as a site for public events such as air races, up until 1960 when Birmingham City became responsible for it. From that point onwards many developments occurred at the airport such as a new terminal being opened. The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh opened the redeveloped Birmingham International Airport in the year 2000.

Take the M6, exit at junction 4A and join the M42 signposted for London and Solihull. At junction 6 of the M42 take the A45 and follow signs for Birmingham Internation Airport.

North East
From the M42, exit at junction 6 and join the A45 and follow signs for Birmingham International Airport.

South
From the M40, exit at junction 4A and join the M42 signposted for London and the M1. Exit the M42 at junction 6 and join the A45 and follow signs for the Birmingham International Airport.

South West
Take the M5 to Birmingham and exit at junction 4A, join the M42 signposted for Birmingham. Exit and join onto the A45 at junction 6 and follow signs to the Birmingham International Airport.

South East
Take the M1 towards Birmingham/ Midlands, leave the M1 junction 19 and join the M6, exit at junction 4, join the M42 signposted for Birmingham/Solihull, exit the M42 at junction 6 and follow signs on the A45 for the Birmingham International Airport.
