Car Hire in London

• The M25 motorway is busy between 7am and 9.30am and between 4.30pm and 7pm. People tend to head into London in the morning, and out in the evening, so driving from Heathrow to Central London in the evening will be easier than in the morning.
  
• The City of London, although central, tends to be very quiet during the weekends. An interesting area for architecture and history in itself, it can also provide a weekend route between North & South London.
  
• Cycling is popular in London, and Mayor Boris Johnson has introduced further incentives and schemes to encourage cycling, like Barclay’s Cycle Hire (or the Boris Bikes as they are known to Londoners). Cyclists tend to be good at staying safe, but remember to stay alert to this kind of road user.
  
• If you’re not familiar with the UK, remember that zebra crossings (recognisable from their black and white striped lines across the road) provide right of way to pedestrians in the UK, so you are expected to stop until the road is clear.
  
• When parking, look out for signs that indicate that parking permits are required during weekday daytimes. Parking permits are given to local residents, and are not available to visitors.
