Creating a safe, supportive and inclusive environment at Avis

Embracing and promoting diversity is a critical component of our ethos as a global transport provider. Every day at Avis we strive to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for our teams. Central to this is the focus on increasing diversity across our teams and taking a step further by ensuring we are investing in diverse businesses too. So how are we doing this?

Our roadmap to 2030: diversity

We have already been working toward increasing the diversity of our workforce and fostering an inclusive culture. Our 2030 targets will see us maintain both 50% diversity as well as 100% gender pay equity at all levels of the organisation. We are also committed to investing at least $10B in diverse suppliers.

Governance and responsibility at Avis

At Avis our business is run ethically and in compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations. We also bring a wider perspective to our work.

The travel industry is global by its very nature, and we are aware that this leads to increased risk for human trafficking and exploitative practices. We take our responsibilities very seriously and are taking steps to train 100% of our rental agents to help identify and respond to human trafficking.

Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and the #POWERofDIFFERENT

To ensure we provide a channel for voices to be heard, we established four ERGs under the umbrella #PowerofDIFFERENT. The #PowerofDIFFERENT is our commitment to provide an inclusive workplace that embraces and celebrates the demographic, cultural, and lifestyle differences of our employees. We now have four ERGs: #POWERofWOMEN, #POWERofCOLOR #POWERofVETERANS and in 2022 launched #POWERofPRIDE, which celebrates our LGBTQ+ community.

Supporting employee well-being

Avis employee benefits in the countries we operate across reflect local practices and cultures; however, our commitment to providing comprehensive and meaningful benefits and resources is consistent around the world.

Our Driving Well-being Together programme is aimed at helping our people to achieve all aspects of wellness through encouraging habits that promote physical, emotional, and financial wellbeing.

Giving back

With operations around the world, we are committed to supporting local communities and charities both at corporate level and by individual employees. We support our teams in dedicating time to a local cause or charity close to their hearts. At a corporate level, we sponsor and partner with several organisations, including Make-A-Wish, R U OK?, Susan G. Komen, and Toys for Tots.
