The top sight here is the Payas Fortress. Built around the 12th century, this ancient treasure was used at the time of the Crusades and is amazingly well preserved thanks to a number of restorations over the centuries. Examples of Ottoman architecture can also be appreciated in Dörtyol.
To enjoy the Mediterranean coast at its finest, with beaches and attractions aplenty, head for the Turkish resort of Iskenderun. All it takes is an hour’s drive from Hatay via the E91.

The Iskenderun Museum of the Sea, which tells the story of Turkish naval history (including the Gallipoli battle during the First World War), is a must.
