Mirador Morro Velosa
Just 25 minutes from Caleta de Fuste, via FV-30, you’ll reach Mirador Morro Velosa, the summit of Mount Tegu, which offers panoramic views of the entire island. There’s also a bar and exhibition space situated here, where displays relating to the landscape are on show. Known to the locals as ‘the centre of the island’, it’s worth bringing a pair of binoculars to make the most of the breathtaking view. Afterwards, drive down to the black-volcanic beach of Ajuy for an afternoon in the sun.
Betancuria, Fuerteventura’s old capital, is situated in a beautiful valley that's a 30-minute drive from Caleta de Fuste. The oleander bushes, cacti and palm trees that grow here give you that typical Canary Island feeling. Be sure to visit the Santa Maria Cathedral, built in the 17th century, and wander the old stone streets lined with beautiful whitewashed houses.
This artisan museum houses many ancient examples of pottery, musical instruments, agricultural tools and more. Visit the craft centre to watch local craftsmen at work. A highlight of this museum, located 45 minutes from Caleta de Fuste, is the 3D film about the island’s sea life.
