Collect your Avis hire car at Menorca Mahon Airport and an unforgettable road trip will soon be yours. All you need to do is drive.
From the comfort of your rental, you’re free to admire the glistening gems of this Balearic island as you please.
From Menorca Mahon Airport, you’re just a 10-minute drive (via the Me-12) from Mahon – the ideal starting point for your Menorca road trip.
Mahon is the island’s capital, offering excellent shopping and much entertainment. The old town presents a delightful mix of old and new, with narrow streets, shady squares and a selection of pavement cafes – perfect for watching the world go by.
If you’re looking for culture and history, Mahon has plenty to offer. Menorca Museum, settled in an old 17th century convent, exhibits a large collection of artefacts from the pre-Talayotic, Talayotic, Roman and Byzantine periods. It also boasts a number of paintings and artworks from the 19th and 20th centuries.
One of Mahon’s most popular tourist attractions, the Church of Santa Maria (built in 1287 and then rebuilt around 1748-1772) is also worth visiting. Highlights include a spectacular organ, featuring more than 3,000 pipes. Concerts and recitals are held here throughout the year.
Just 4km from Mahon is Talati de Dalt. The Talayotic remains here represent one of Menorca’s most important pre-historic sites and are definitely worth adding to your sightseeing list.
If you’re more into gastronomy than archaeology, you won’t be disappointed with the selection of restaurants and tapas bars scattered around both the harbour and in central Mahon, serving Spanish, Catalan and Italian cuisine.
Explore Mahon and Menorca’s southeast coast from the comfort of your hire car.

The island of Menorca, although quieter than its sister island Majorca, has great appeal. From bustling historic towns such as Mahon to secluded sandy coves, you’ll find there’s so much to see and do in this multi-faceted destination.
Drive for around 15 minutes from Menorca Mahon Airport, via the Me-12, and you’ll arrive in the pretty seaside town of Es Castell. Two harbours present a collection of bars, restaurants and souvenir shops, plus a fantastic sandy beach. If you fancy escaping the sun for an hour, the Menorca Military Museum in the old town hall is worth a look.
To catch the best views of the island, head to El Toro – the highest point on Menorca, just a 40-minute drive from Menorca Mahon Airport via the Me-1. Aside from the spectacular panorama, there’s also an Augustinian monastery and church to explore.
S’Albufera des Grau Natural Park
Around a 50-minute drive from Mahon is S’Albufera des Grau Natural Park. Here you can spot a number of rare birds, including cormorants, herons, ospreys and red kites. The impressive nature reserve also boasts a variety of plants, such as orchids, gladioli and honeysuckle. It’s definitely worth adding to your sightseeing itinerary and promises a relaxing and educational day out for all the family.
Hiring an Avis car gives you the keys to unlock Menorca at your leisure.
