Malmö is the third-largest city in Sweden – located in the southwestern area of Skåne. The city has over 300,000 inhabitants from more than 160 different countries – so has grown significantly since it was a small fishing village in 1100.
Malmö's oldest buildings are St. Peter's Church and the Malmöhus Castle, which both date back to the year 1400. Malmö's western harbour, Västra Hamnen, lies on the coast of Öresund – and has undergone recent building work by developers and architects – making an interesting neighborhood.
The eight-kilometre-long Öreseund bridge extends all the way to Denmark and connects two cities - Copenhagen and Malmö. You may also recognise the Öreseund bridge from the Swedish/Danish TV drama 'The Bridge.'
